How did you get into competing? Was it a difficult road to follow?

I had a supplement company sponsor it and offer to coach me for free so I took the opportunity to grow and expand my business/ expereince.

Yes, it is a lonely road and not at all what it looks like. There is nothing glamorous about it.

What is the hardest thing and the most enjoyable thing about preparing to compete to you?

The hardest thing in my opinion was the inability to control the mood swings you get close to the show.

The fact that no one understands how much the diet and training can affect your mood, energy, etc.

The most enjoyable was stepping on stage and meeting other fitness freaks 🙂

How do you manage to stay motivated and consistent throughout everything?

I have no choice at this point. My clients and followers depend on me as their role model so I have to!

What are your future plans?

I have no plans to compete at this point. I may change my mind but I highly doubt it. My future career goals are to expand my online coaching business and eventually start life coaching 🙂 It goes hand in hand in my opinion.

Take us through an average day of yours:

  • The moment I wake up I have a cup of coffee (I love coffee) and then I go to the gym for cardio.
  • I check my emails, eat, prep food.
  • I read in the library, check emails again sometimes.
  • Then go to the gym for round two.

That is every single day.

Give us a brief description of your philosophy on your diet:

You get out of it what you put into it. Hard work, no shortcuts and no secrets.

Off season is the time to heal your body because competing can be very ‘unhealthy’.

What are your top tips to lose weight for the ladies?

  • You must be in a caloric deficit to lose weight.
  • Lift weights!!
  • Slow down on the cardio! Try HIIT instead!

What would you say to someone who says eating healthy is too expensive and time consuming?

This is actually not true.

Bananas are really cheap, strawberries and other fruit are usually on sale. Veggies can be found at a really low price and fill you up for longer. You can also find great deals at costco, Bj’s, local farmers markets etc.

Do you weigh all your food and track the numbers when it comes to calories of everything you eat?

Only when I am trying to get a 6pack. But I do count calories everyday. It is not difficult, I use an app called myfitnesspal.

I think it is necessary if you want abs or are very serious about your fitness goals.

You can lose without doing so by default but you can gain weight eating clean if you eat too many calories.

What supplements do you recommend for beginners?

For beginners I would recommend caffeine.

You should always test your tolerance first before using anything but personally I use MyHyde. It is hands down the best preworkout.

Not at all. I only did this for contest prep and maybe once or twice a week beforehand. I did both steady state and hiit.
