Book Review | The Food Dare By Lindsey Banks

I recently had the opportunity to review a pretty cool book called the Food Dare by Lindsey Banks. It’s a great idea and concept where in a nutshell, she gives you specific ‘dares’ to follow each day of the month (for 30 days). These dares are more like healthy dares, where you include something healthy in your diet or lifestyle. A simple example is one instance where you have to drink a certain amount of water each day. The book makes you accountable and offers many great tips which is great for complete beginners to this lifestyle.

Review

Lets take a look at the good and the bad of the book and if it is worth investing in.

The book is a really great tool for someone who wants to make a change in their lifestyle or in their diet, but just doesn’t know where to start. It informs you of all the basics and keeps you accountable in following the dares.

With each day, Lindsey gives you a dare to follow as well as more details and information on the topic to help you understand what you are doing and why you are doing it. In the chapter (day) you sign and accept that you will follow the dare and at the end of the day you write down certain observations so that you can improve and know what to work on in the future.

People tend to like to be told what to do when they are not too informed about something or are not too passionate about something. When someone is passionate about a topic they seem to be very self motivated and research as much as they can and put it into practice, at least initially anyway.

The point here is that, for someone new to living relatively healthily, it can be quite difficult to know where to start and what to do. This book gives you all that information and tells you exactly what to do each day, one step at a time to ensure you do not get too overwhelmed. This can happen when you go through so many different sources of information and end up with information overload! It is also somewhat like a diary where you hold yourself accountable to follow each daily dare as well as write down your thoughts and observations after each day. This is a great way to keep you motivated and to keep track of your progress.

The only thing which needs to be taken into account, is the aftermath. To make sure to follow up after each dare and not forget about them as you go on, and when you finish the book. You can even do the food dare over and over until it all becomes a habit!
